Tipon Springs Tree Farm & Nursery

Specializing in cold hardy, deer resistant, drought tolerant, and butterfly & firefly friendly plants.

The North Georgia Mountains are one of the richest bird habitats in the Southeast. Because of elevation changes, dense forests, rivers, and migration routes, you can see well over 150 species throughout the year and we LOVE watching them.

Year-round favorites

  • Northern Cardinal — bright red males; one of Georgia’s most recognizable birds

  • Carolina Chickadee — tiny, curious, and very vocal

  • Tufted Titmouse — gray bird with a pointed crest

  • Blue Jay — bold, intelligent, and noisy

  • Red-bellied Woodpecker — common in wooded neighborhoods

  • Carolina Wren — loud song for such a small bird

These species thrive in mountain forests and residential areas alike.

About Tipton Springs

Nestled among open fields and gently shaded woodland, our tree farm is rooted in a simple philosophy: grow plants that thrive naturally and give back to the environment. We specialize in cold-hardy, drought-tolerant and deer resistance varieties carefully chosen to flourish through changing seasons with minimal intervention. From resilient native trees to hardy shrubs and perennials, every plant is selected not only for beauty but for strength — able to withstand winter chills, summer heat, and the unpredictable rhythms of nature.

Beyond resilience, the farm is designed as a haven for pollinators and nighttime magic alike. Butterfly-friendly blooms create a colorful tapestry that supports migrating monarchs, swallowtails, and countless native species, while thoughtfully chosen flowering plants help sustain fireflies and other beneficial insects after sunset. Our goal is to cultivate landscapes that feel alive — gardens where movement, light, and life coexist — offering homeowners and land stewards plants that are both environmentally responsible and deeply inspiring.
